How Does a Process Orientated Psychotherapist Work
In a session with a process-oriented psychotherapist, the therapist will use a variety of techniques to help you explore your experience in the present moment and gain insights into patterns of behavior and thinking.
In a session with Tori, a process-oriented psychotherapist, you might expect to see the following:
1. Exploration of your experience: Tori may start the session by asking you to describe your current experience, including any thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
2. Identifying themes and patterns: Tori will pay attention to any recurring themes or patterns that emerge in your experience, such as recurring dreams or patterns in your relationships.
3. Encouraging the expression of marginalized parts: Tori will also encourage you to explore parts of self that may have been marginalized or suppressed, such as your inner child or your shadow.
4. Working with different modalities: Tori may use a variety of modalities to help you explore your experience, including guided visualizations, role-playing exercises, and creative expression.
5. Focusing on the process: Throughout the session, Tori will focus on the process of your experience, rather than trying to interpret or analyze your thoughts or emotions.
6. Collaborative approach: Finally, Tori will work collaboratively with you to help develop your own insights and strategies for working with your experience over time.
Tori had worked in Addiction and Trauma treatment centres for 15 years and has a deep respect and patience for the recovery process and what it takes.
